Endoscopic Procedure Resulting in Massive Reflux and Lung Damage

ID: exh40319b
This stock medical exhibit shows an endoscopic procedure resulting in massive reflux and lung damage in a series of illustrations. The first illustration shows the pre-operative condition, in which stomach contents are beyond the reach of a nasogastric tube inserted into the stomach through the nose. The second illustration shows the intra-operative condition, in which an endoscope is inserted down the esophagus into the stomach. A tremendous amount of acidic material in the stomach is regurgitated and aspirated into the lungs.
