This exhibit illustrates a pre-operative film interpretation, three surgical illustrations, and a post-operative film interpretation.rnrnThe pre-operative condition illustration is a film interpretation of the right lower leg fracture site. The open comminuted fracture of the tibial shaft and segmented fracture of fibula, as well as the transverse laceration of the leg surrounding the open fracture, are highlighted.rnrnThe three surgical steps include the insertion of pins for an external fixation device, the reaming of the tibia, and the insertion of an intramedullary nail and screws into the prepared tibia.rnrnThe post-operative condition is also a film interpretation illustrating the placement of the hardware within the tibia, as well as highlighting the area of nonunion of the distal tibial fracture around the internal hardware.
