ID: exh82298
This medical exhibit consists of four illustrations on a single exhibit.rnrnThe first illustration is a coronal cutaway view of the mouth, esophagus and stomach of a patient who is getting an esophagogastroduodenoscopy. The anatomy will appear within a silhouette of a figure. The spleen will also be shown and it will appear blackened due to infarction.rnrnThe second illustration will be a coronal cutaway view of the large intestine of a patient who is getting a colonoscopy. The small intestine will also be shown. The anatomy will appear within a silhouette of a figure. rnrnThe third illustration will show a vessel with an embolus blocking the flow of blow to help explain what a clot does. rnrnThe fourth illustration is an anterior view of the aorta, superior mesenteric artery, celiac artery, splenic artery, gastroduodenal artery and spleen. The spleen appears blackened due to infarction. Labels point out that an embolus is present in the superior mesenteric artery and that there are blockages in the celiac artery, splenic artery and gastroduodenal artery. Superimposed over the arteries and spleen are faint ghosted images of the large and small intestine and the stomach. This illustration emphasizes the point that the pathology in this case was not visible during an esophagogastroduodenoscopy or colonoscopy. The anatomy appears within an outline of a figure.
