Lumbar Spine injuries with Discectomies and Fusion

This exhibit consists of a single board depicting the pre-operative condition, surgical steps, and post-operative condition of a lumbar spine herniation and the anterior fixation hardware.rnThe pre-operative condition is depicted using a film interpretation to show the disc herniation at L4-L5 and disc collapse at L5-S1. The next four images are surgical showing the anterior paramedian incision to access the spine, the discectomies performed at L4-5 and L5-S1, the insertion of integrated plates and spacers, and the locking in of the plates by inserted screws. The final image is illustrated by another film interpretation showing the anterior fusion hardware and inserted discs in place.
