Anterior and Posterior Lumbar Discectomy and Fusion Surgery

In this series of illustrations disc injuries are depicted at L4-5, L5-S1 with anterior disc herniation at L3-4. Discectomy is performed only at L3-4, a PEEK implant is inserted and secured in place with a screw and washer. This is followed with a posterior approach, where the facets of L3-4 are resected, hardware is placed and bone graft is placed over decorticated bone to complete the bone fusion at this level.rn
