Left Leg Reconstructive Surgery

This exhibit depicts necrotic soft tissues of the leg as consequence of an injury to the popliteal vessels. Reconstructive surgery include: debridement of dead muscle and other soft tissue, divide the medial head of the gastrocnemius muscle and move it anteriorly to cover exposed tibia, dividing the soleus muscle into a bipedicle and move a pedicle anteriorly to cover a defect. Skin graft is harvested from the thigh and placed over open wound.
