L5-S1, Anterior Lumbar Discectomy and Fusion with Instrumentation

This exhibit begins with a lumbar MRI color interpretation of the post-accident condition of the lumbar spine which shows a central protrusion and annular tear of L5-S1 abutting the S1 nerve roots. The surgical repair is made from an anterior approach where the incision is made anteriorly, the disc at L5-S1 is incised and its content removed. A femoral ring allograft bone if filled with bone graft and inserted within the interspace and secured in place with an anterior plate and screws on L5 and S1.
