Bilateral Ileofemoral Popliteal Thromboembolectomy and Bilateral 4 Compartment Fasciotomies
Bilateral Ileofemoral Popliteal Thromboembolectomy and Bilateral 4 Compartment Fasciotomies

This exhibit illustrates two procedures which are performed in both legs. First, in order to remove the thrombus from the popliteal artery, an incision is made in the abdominal aorta distal to a dacron graft placed in a prior surgery, a Fogarty catheter is passed down through the common iliac artery and down into the popliteal artery reaching the thrombus and removed. The second procedure addresses a compartment compression syndrome of the legs in which incisions are made in the medial and lateral calf, and the fascia is divided in the four muscle compartments to release the pressure.
