Left Wrist Fractures with Initial Surgical Fixation

ID: exh66301a-nl
This stock medical exhibit depicts left wrist fractures with initial surgical fixation. The top images are an actual X-ray and an artist's interpretation of that X-ray showing the comminuted fracture of the distal radius and the open fracture of the ulna. Then next three images describe multiple steps of the surgical fixation, including irrigation and debridement of the ulnar wound, reduction of the ulna and placement of Schanz pins into the first metacarpal and the radius, and placement of the fixator clamps and rod. The final two images are an actual post-operative X-ray along with an artist's interpretation of that X-ray showing the external fixator in place.
