This stock medical exhibit depicts a cervical spine injury with surgical discectomy and fusion in a series of illustrations. The first illustration shows a sagittal cross section through the cervical spine and shows an osteophyte complex compressing the spinal cord. The remaining illustrations show the steps of the corrective surgery. The second illustration shows a surgeon cutting an incision into the neck. The third illustration shows an intervertebral disc being removed. The fourth illustration shows bone graft being placed into the empty disc space. The fifth illustration shows a plate and screws being placed over the graft.
