Medical exhibit depicts multiple lower back injuries and six surgical steps of an L5-S1 discectomy and spinal fusion procedure. The sagittal pre-operative condition image shows a T11-12, L2-3 and L4-5 disc bulges and a right sided L5-S1 disc herniation. Illustrations of the surgery include: A) midline incision in the lower back at the L5-S1 level, B) right hemilaminectomy, C) removal of herniated disc, D) harvesting of bone graft from the left iliac crest, E) decorticated of bony elements and F) applying of bone graft (mixed with allograft croutons) over the decorticated bone.
