This stock medical exhibit shows an abdominal aortic aneurysm in a series of illustrations. The first illustration shows an anterior cut-away view of the normal anatomy of the abdominal aorta and surrounding structures: inferior vena cava, renal blood vessels, right common iliac artery and kidney. The second illustration shows an abominal aortic aneurysm. The third illustration shows the eventual condition, which is a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm with hemorrhage. The fourth illustration shows the surgical repair, in which defective portions of the aorta have been replaced with a synthetic graft.
