This stock medical exhibit portrays thoracic spinal fusion. The first illustration shows the use of traction tongs to stabilize and align the spine in a side view of the head. The second illustration shows the creation of a midline incision over the region of the fracture, extending from T7-L2. Within the same illustration, another incision is made into the posterior left hip to harvest bone graft. The third illustration shows the decompression of the spine and the repair of the dura. Pedicle screws are placed at T8, T9, T10, T12 and L1. Laminar hooks are placed at left L1. The fourth illustration shows the placement of bone graft and stabilization rods from T8-L1 for final fusion.
