C4-5 Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion

This stock medical exhibit shows a C4-5 anterior discectomy and fusion in a series of illustrations. The first two illustrations show the pre-operative condition in mid-sagittal views of the cervical spine, including a C4-5 disc herniation impinging on the thecal sac (dura), and a fusion mass at C5-6. The third illustration shows the first step in the procedure, including the creation of an incision into the neck at the C4-5 level. The fourth illustration shows the removal of herniated disc material from the C4-5 interspace. The fifth illustration shows fusion at the C4-5 level with bone graft and the installation of a plate and screws.
