This stock medical exhibit shows four comparative views of the head and brain of an infant describing the progression of Hydrocephalus. The following views are illustrated: 1- Normal anatomy of the brain and ventricular system. 2- Early effects of hydrocephalus with fuid swelling of the ventricles and brain compression. 3- Late stage hydrocephalus with herniation of the brainstem out the foramen magnum of the skull. 4. Preventative measures showing shunt placement into the ventricles to drain off excessive fluid pressure and avoid a brainstem herniation.
