Right Ankle Injuries with Open Reduction and Internal Fixation

ID: exh81863a
This is a single board, custom exhibit depicting a right ankle’s pre-operative condition, three surgical steps, and the post-operative condition. The pre-operative condition of a displaced fracture of the distal fibula is illustrated with two X-ray film interpretations in both lateral and anterior views, as well in an anterior orientation image. The three steps shown include the lateral incision made to expose the fractured area, the reduction of the fractured bone, and the insertion of a plate and screws to stabilize the fracture. The post-operative image is a film interpretation in an anterior view showing the exact placement of the plate and screw into the fibula.
