This exhibit features the complexities of the initial aortic repair procedure by illustrating four to five of the key steps of the procedure including the creation of the large posterolateral thoracotomy incision, the resection of the 4th and 7th ribs allowing for wide retraction of the ribs and exposure of the thoracic contents, the cross clamping of the dital aortic arch, the opening of the affected aorta and the placement of the Hemashield graft.
