Next, three sagittal views reveal a section of the lower anterior abdominal wall and the layers of the abdominal wall including the skin, subcutaneous tissue, rectus fascia and underlying rectus muscle. 1. Normal anatomy 2. Initial infection showing a small amount of infection becoming established around the anterior rectus fascia. 3. Subsequent condition shows with massive increase in the fascial infection with this infection spreading up into the subcutaneous tissue to the skin with a small amount of purulent fluid draining out through the closed surgical incision.
