This stock medical exhibit shows a post-accident femur fracture with surgical fixation in a series of illustrations. The first illustration shows the post-accident condition of the right femur in an anterior view of the lower half of the body. The second illustration shows the post-accident condition in an enlarged view of the right femur, including an obique fracture of the distal femur. The third illustration shows the first step in the fixation procedure, including the creation of an incision in line with the greater trochanter. The fourth illustration shows the reaming of a channel into the femur and the placement of an intramedullary nail. The fifth illustration shows the post-operative condition, including the intramedullary nail and screws in place.
