This medical exhibit features one large anterior cut-away view of the female abdomen and pelvis revealing the various internal organs including the large and small intestines. The distal ileum, cecum and ascending colon is shown in cut section in this image with the front half removed allowing us to see the internal lumen of this region and the thickness of the bowel wall. This image provides an overall orientation to the anatomy of concern in this case with a box drawn around the ileocecal junction to correspond with the following enlargements.rnrnNext, two enlarged anterior cut-away views of the ileocecal junction compare the two theories.The first enlargement shows a thickening and prominence of the ileocecal valve.The second image shows an obvious tumor of the ileocecal valve.
