This exhibit begins by depicting the injury sustained in the ankle joint including a comminuted fracture of both, the fibula and tibia. Also there is a comminuted fracture of the cuboid. There is an open wound associated with the pilon fracture. The surgical steps illustrated are as follow: Two skin incisions made on the anterolateral aspect of the ankle. The peri-locking fibular plate and screws used to fixate the fibula. The plate placed on the anterior aspect of the tibia to fixate the large posterior pilon bone fragment.
