Lumbar Injuries and Surgical Fixation

ID: exh71301
This stock medical exhibit begins with one sagittal (side cut-away) view of the lumbar spine illustrating the pre-operatvive condition. This image clearly reveals the L1 compression fracture, the disc bulges at L2-3, L3-4 and L4-5, and the spondylolisthesis and hypertrophic changes at L5-S1. This image is specifically based on actual pre-operative MRI scans. Also, included in this exhibit are the key steps involved in a multilevel decompression and fusion procedure. These images include the posterior exposure of the lower lumbar spine through an open surgical incision, laminectomies and the placement of posterior fusion hardware from L4 down to S1.
