Left Piriformis Syndrome with Surgical Repair

ID: exh61747b
This exhibit begins with one posterior view of the male pelvis and hips revealing the skeletal anatomy and course of the sciatic nerves and clearly showing the location of the piriformis muscles bilaterally. This image reveals that the left sciatic nerve is being compressed as it passes beneath the piriformis muscle on that side and clearly show the resulting inflammation of that nerve. Also, three to four steps of the piriformis resection and neuroplasty procedure are illustrated in graphic detail. These images include the open exposure of the enlarged left piriformis muscle and the removal of the offending portions of the piriformis muscle and surrounding scar tissue.
