Left Forearm Injuries

ID: exh74941a
This medical exhibit begins with one dorsal view of the left forearm, wrist and hand revealing the skeletal anatomy transparently beneath the skin. This clearly shows the mid-shaft fracture of the radius. Also, the course of the radial nerve, and specifically the superficial branch of the radial nerve is shown going down the arm with branches spreading out across the back of the hand. The open laceration of the wrist with a label pointing out the nerve damage at this site and the back of the hand is shown shaded in blue to represent the sensory deficit resulting from this nerve damage. A post-accident x-ray is included as well.
