This stock medical exhibit depicts left arm fracture with surgical fixation in a series of illustrations. The first illustration portrays a humeral fracture as the post-accident condition in an anterior view of the left humerus. The second illustration is the first step in the fixation procedure, showing the reaming of the humerus through an incision in the shoulder. It also depicts the extension and irrigation of the open fracture wound. The third illustration shows the placement of an intramedullary rod into the fractured humerus. The fourth illustration shows the placement of interlocking screws through separate stab incisions. The wounds are closed with sutures.
