Cranial Injuries and VP Shunt

ID: exh66132b-nl
This stock medical exhibit describes a male patient with cranial injuries. The first image is an anterior view of the skull showing the multiple skull fractures in detail. The next two images are horizontal section views showing the patient's condition on two different dates. In the first image, dural lacerations and an intercerebral hematoma are visible. In the second, intracranial cysts filled with air are shown. The final image shows the placement of a ventriculoperitoneal shunt, which drains fluid from the lateral ventricle of the brain and empties through a tube into the peritoneum.
